I woke up with a new resolve today. Perhaps it had something to do with my boyfriend ordering pizza last night and sneaking a few pieces myself. I'm in an attempt to be healthy all of May and onwards (pizza= not so healthy, damn). Or perhaps it was just one of those days where you wake up and feel completely different than when you fell asleep. For no reason at all. One of those days where you just feel change. Instead of groggily crawling from bed, you're already awake- in the kitchen making tea, then outside enjoying the sunshine. Today is a new kind of day. Enjoy it. Wake. Play in your closet because you don't hate all your clothes you just need to find a new way to love them- mix it up- pair something random- classics and statements. Get coffee/tea or whatever and get going. You'll instantly feel better no matter what's bogging you down, or eating you up. xoxo t st.

I have never been a huge fan of Birkenstocks, especially on women, until this. They have always had a very Midwest, old man-ish look, though I never despised it when my boyfriend wore his own pair. So I guess I am really saying that I am considering getting a pair. Through word of mouth, I have heard that these are "one of the most comfortable pairs of shoes ever worn", they last forever (I believe George has had his since high school) and if Free People is rocking them, then I rest my case. What do you guys think about these?

Somewhere along the Valentine's Day timeline, it became notorious as the dreaded holiday. For some relationships it can be an unwelcome reminder that every other day of the year romantically fails in comparison. For those who are single, Valentine's Day is overblown, an inflated day whose sole aim is to point out and/or mock loneliness. Neither scenario holds even an ounce of truth unless you lead yourself to believe it. Valentine's Day should be stress free, exciting and enjoyable. Throw a party, ask someone out on a date, stay in and order thai and watch funny movies. Get over the torturous analysis of your own love life and focus on the people who make you happy. Call your friends who you haven't talked to in ages. Call your parents, they'll unquestionably love hearing your voice. In preparation for this weekend, I've made a few plans: tonight I have a date with a handsome young suitor and potential doctor; I'll be seeing my lovely older sister Kari, who also lives in Chicago; and making V-Day treats with my favorite Martha Stewart impersonator and close friend, Claire. In an attempt to follow my own advice, I'm planning on making a few long overdue phone calls to some very important people. It's easy to get caught up in your own life, in your own carefully constructed world- but what has been and will always be the most important part of my life are the people in it. My only hope for this year's V-Day is that these people know just how much I love them.
