Unexpected Inspiraton

While working on a color assignment for a poetry workshop, I found inspiration in an unexpected place- The Inspired Bride is a website created to do just that... inspire!
The site features beautiful pictures, some of flowers, some of landscapes, and some funky randoms intermixed. They then take each photo and create a color palate from the chosen colors of that photo. The pictures are meant to aid soon to be brides in the daunting task of choosing colors for their wedding.
Some girls dream of their wedding day, know the kind of cake they'd have, the color of bridesmaid dresses/who will wear them, and everything else planned perfectly for the perfect day. Well, at some point we all realize that our tastes change, continually. What worked for my seven year old self is no longer applicable...pink is not my color. And what about girls who dread it? Not the falling in love part, but the planning! The Inspired Bride comes to the rescue!
Looking through their photos, I fell in love with several color pairings. Now I'm certainly convinced I'll turn to The Inspired Bride when my time comes. Check out their website at www.inspiredbride.net!

Victoria Legrand's voice is unlike anything I've ever heard. In addition to how phenomenal her voice is, her hair happens to be beautiful and incredibly rock-star-ish.

Plan Ahead

Summer is quickly approaching, sooner than expected, and let me tell you, I am soooo excited. Working at a PR firm, enjoying constant sunshine in Palos Verdes and traveling throughout Europe with my family is all I can think about. I love being organized and when it comes to having plans or making plans, Keely and I both love writing it down. The agendas are the perfect way to keep your life organized during the year and summer. Keely introduced me to this amazing product when I fell in love with her pink agenda. I personally love the white and chocolate, but you pick your poison. Camera Obscura

It's a fantastic week for music-lovers in Lawrence. As we mentioned before, Beach House is playing at the Granada, Tuesday, tomorrow. I believe tickets are still available seeing as I only just picked up mine this afternoon. As if one amazing concert wasn't enough this week, Camera Obscura will be preforming at the Bottleneck, Wednesday, April 7th. Friend and fashion blogger, Mr. Reynolds from Walk About, introduced me to this spectacular band and they are definitely worth seeing live. I can't wait! Get out and about and do something different this week. Drinking on Tuesdays and Wednesdays are what college was made for, and even if you don't drink, go out, be social, and listen to the music.

Let it Rain

Although the rain creates a huge inconvenience/burden when walking to class, or trying to do anything for that matter, I kinda enjoy it. I love the smell of the rain on pavement and the fact that it makes being cooped up inside doing homework or studying at the library more tollerable. So when April showers bring May flowers, look for a trendy jacket to keep you warm and dry... Our pick? The infamous trench coat.

Spring Shower Bring Shoes and Presents

I miss shopping in Colorado. I'm positive Tessa feels the same way about L.A. (even more so than I)- but like most anything, absence makes the heart grow fonder. Thus, going back to some of my favorite vintage shops near home, brings about a new sense of appreciation for the things (stores) I've left behind. Lawrence was just recently ranked one of the top college towns in the U.S., and rightly so. It's a beautiful place, a home for those who go to KU, have families, work there- but best of all it's our secret garden for summer, fall, (hibernating) winter, and blooming spring. It takes us somewhere hidden and away from the busy bustle of Denver, L.A., Kansas City, ect. It gives us some peace or rest (minus some school stresses), so that when we do venture out into the busy cities, we appreciate them for what they are and what we've missed. So without bumbling on and on, here are some of the presents the Easter Bunny and I found in Denver! Oh, and HAPPY EASTER. Tessa needs to save me a cupcake, they look delicious but what's a girl to do 500+ miles away!

German jewelry designer Husan De Odeh... is a genius. Add one part Odeh genius + one part Acne jeans and it = the most amazing pairs of jeans around. The collaboration, the rest of Odeh's jewelry and and most definitely these jeans... are pretty spectacular.

No. 6, a cozy yet unique vintage boutique in Little Italy NYC, boasts wearable pieces of clothing that fit into the everyday life with hints of boho glam. Owners Morgan Yakus and Karin Bereson teamed up to create the perfect mix of eccentric, eclectic, and fabulous clothing. Bereson started as a stylist while Yakus was an eye savvy vintage collector, but there's no denying the duo has done it right. Looking for clogs this spring? Look no further than No. 6 (www.no6store.com). Thinking about a trip to NYC? Because Yakus and Bereson are busy bee travelers, shopping is by appointment only. In Flight Entertainment

Carry on? Check. Boarding pass? Check. Phone charger (always forget)? Check. An armful of much needed reading material/homework in the form of Marie Claire, Vogue and Nylon? Check, check, check! So at about noon today I booked a flight home to Colorado- definitely on a whim. However, in the hour I had to pack and also catch my flight, I forgot to grab a book. Needless to say not all hope was lost and I spent the entire flight reading Nylon. I didn't even get to Vogue or Marie Clare! I strongly advise getting your hands on a copy of the April issue of Nylon. True it only was it the only magazine I read on flight, but doesn't that say something? I certainly think so. It was an amazing issue and one I hold in high regard. From cover girl, Zoe Saldana (stunning, cool, stylish, poised) to their issue about the scrunchie come back (I know right?!) to an interview with Christopher Mintz-Plasse (McLovin!), the mag has totally impressed me this month. The gazillion of little articles dispersed throughout (some of which I will share soon) are diverse, original, oh so cool, hot, green, hip, and interesting- something for everyone you might say. Pick up the issue. Do it. In the meantime I'll narrow down some of my favorite finds and dive into the Vogue and M.C. awaiting me. Much to share!

Telling Time

I think it's important to most everyone to own a watch and/or always have a watch on. For those who don't own a watch ( ;D ), I still love you. Watches are sophisticated, mature and add to any outfit, even the everyday jeans and tee. While not everyone is able to buy that big beautiful Cartier, Tag Heuer, Bvlgari and Movado watch, I think there are a lot of great substitutes that will suffice and a vintage watch is almost certainly a better find anyway.

Nixon are great quality watches at reasonable prices. Burberry's are just beautiful. So if your trying to invest in a new watch check out nixon.com, and burberry they are fab. The other possibility? Just keep an eye out in vintage and antique stores... there's much treasure to be found, we're sure of it.

Vintage is Forever

Stumbling across millions of nic-nacs at the Antique Mall alongside Keely yesterday. I came across this simple yet beautiful vintage piece of luggage. I told her how much I loved it and wanted to have one. So instead of buying the reasonably priced piece of luggage at the Antique Mall I instead look to vintage Louis Vuitton's. They are a beautiful collectors item, with quality leather that I hope will be in my possession sometime soon. :D

Sunshine!!!!!
