Karen Elson: Radiant Model to Rockin Musician
Karen Elson, British model and wife of White Stripes/Raconteurs musician Jack White, has switched gears from posing for the camera to wielding a guitar. Though her music career has been on the rise over the past few years, I only recently bought her debut album "The Ghost Who Walks" after reading an NPR article posted June 10th. Born in England, Elson apparently worked in a factory before pursuing a modeling career in New York where she also began singing cabaret and back up vocals for a variety of people. The single, "The Ghost Who Walks" is about a lovesick girl infatuated with the wrong man. The man ends up taking the girl on a midnight drive out to the lake and kills her. Elson's words... "I love a good Gothic tale." When asked how her interest in music will affect her modeling career Elson says, "I think there's room for both. I really do."An inspiration to all, she truly challenges the norm and demonstrates what it means to follow your dreams.
